Grey to Green - Melbourne CBD Walking Tour
Upcoming event - Tickets open to Members
We are delighted to have former City of Melbourne Architect Rob Adams AM host another of his very popular and informative walking tours for us. Rob worked at the City of Melbourne for 40 years, 24 of these as Director of City Design and Projects.
The main theme of this tour will be how Melbourne City, over 30 years, repurposed more than 80 hectares of asphalt and underused infrastructure to redress the imbalance between the space allocated to cars rather than pedestrians, bikes and public transport.
We will meet just outside Art Play (Birrarung Marr), on Princes Walk below Federation Square. The tour will be 5.5 km, one of which will be covered by tram, so sensible walking shoes, a water bottle and a tram ticket are required.
All walkers will be issued with receivers so that the walk will not need to stop for long periods at any one spot but will allow enough time at stops for walkers to take photos and ask questions. There will be approximately 20 short stops, a toilet break. We will finish up with a short presentation and a light lunch (provided) at the Multicultural Hub opposite the Queen Victoria Market.
Register early as we anticipate the walking tour will sell out.
